Stitches West Here We Come

I am waiting for the truck to arrive to pick up my shipment for Stitches West. It has been crazy around here getting everything ready, packed and making sure I have what I need. Lots of counting, two rolls of packing tape and nine boxes later I cross my fingers that I haven't forgotten anything.

The Top Down Cardigan and Hat is so cute. The photo below is one done in Merlot/Navy/Pearl my sample is done in Pink/Periwinkle/Pearl with a tuft of marabou on the beret and sleeping lamb buttons.

I am also bringing a new Moebius, a great felted hat and NEW to AffectionKnit - Natural SILKY. A new design the Silk Kimono is just beautiful, a classic yet simple pattern that will suit just about anyone.

Everyone is doing well on the home front. We had an exciting day around here yesterday with the removal of someone's braces. After 5 years - someone is smiling really big!

2010

The busy Christmas/New Years season has come and gone and I hope all of you enjoyed yourselves. It is back to work as I prepare for Stitches West in February. Just as at Christmas there are gifts to buy and cookies to bake. January is full of samples to knit and boxes to ship.

I am working on children's "Top Down Cardigan and Beret" set from Sweaterkits. The photo on my site shows the set done in Navy/Merlot/Pearl - I am working on Soft Pink/Perwinkle/Pearl both are sooooo cute. The beret is so yummy you want to eat it.

Next on my knitting list is a "Poncho Top" done in Sweaterkits "SILKY" yarn. I'll post a photo when I get it started.

Our daughter started back at University yesterday, living at home while attending school will be different for her, but we sure enjoy having her here. She is a smart and beautiful young woman who in my Mother-In-Law's words (when Megan was about 12 years) "that girl is going to go places!". We can't agree more!

Dylan is back to high school, getting ready for exams and playing basketball. If you have ever met my husband at a show - you understand Dylan's love for the game and yes he has his father's height. At 16 he is 6'1" and still growing.

Swirls & Computers - Oh My!

I have to give a shout out to my computer repair man Dr. Dave - this past week my computer had some issues...but thanks to Dr. Dave all is well. When you have an internet based business, having your main computer out of service is not a good thing. All is well and I am dealing with a super speedy situation!

My Dad has a friend in Eastern Canada that makes jewelry - he saw her at a convention recently and they got talking about my business and she just loved our new Swirls. Since she lives on the water my Dad is going to send her one that looks a bit like a fish. I hope you enjoy it Brenda.

Swirls coming in copper of silver plated copper and are hand made in Ontario by a local artist. They make a great gift at only $15.00.

Wired to Knit

I just finished another project. Sweaterkits Wired to Knit is an easy way to try out knitting with wire and beads. Here is a picture of the bracelet. The kit comes with enough wire, beads and clasps to make both a necklace and a bracelet. I have had friends make two bracelets instead. It is a fun, fast project that is great to give as gifts!

K1F3 - Third Project Finished - Snow?

I am so proud of myself - I am sticking to my guns and I finished another project. A crochet baby blanket. It was an easy one that just needed to be attached together and a trim added. Now all I need to for someone I know to have a baby (a boy preferrably as the blanket is blue & white). I don't forsee any babies in the near future so I will wrap it up in tissue and put it into my cedar chest for when I need a baby gift. I once met a woman at a Stitches show who told me she loved to make my children's cardigan sets. She didn't have any children or grandchildren but kept knitting for whenever she needed a new baby gift she had a beautiful hand knit supply to choose from. She is a smart woman!

Yes, as the title of this post says...SNOW. I know being a Canadian, living in Canada I should be used to it, but every year there is this little part of me that hopes that the snow will fall about a week before Christmas and melt about a week after New Years. Last night we had our first snow fall, no accumulation, didn't even cover the grass but never the less ... it was snow. But on the brighter side, today is sunny, crisp and beautiful. One day when we have a really good storm I will post some pictures so all of you who don't get the pleasure of snow can "enjoy" it with me.

Another Project Complete

Another project complete! What do you think? I swear this bear is dancing. The best part of this photo is what you couldn't see. Me, crawling on my kitchen floor to get a good shot of the bear. This was so much fun I want to do another. My family thinks this is a bear from the 60's, it is very "hippie" looking I have been told. When I saw the colors of yarn that is exactly the look I was going for. The pendant and the belt finished it off.

I am already working on my next unfinished project. It feels so good. I am also trying to incorporate this idea into my life. Finishing up projects that just need to be done. This past Sunday I took apart my closet and dresser. Now I need to drop of a few bags of clothes to a local charity "The Yellow Brick House".

My Mother would be so proud! She was for sure the most organized person in the world!

K1F1 - Knit One, Finish One

I have recently decided that I must finish up all projects I have on the go. Well you will be happy to know that I hav begun the process. Two nights ago I finished a beautiful Lace Scarf in Sweaterkits hand painted "SILKY" in the color of "Ocean". "SILKY" is a brand new yarn to us this summer and it is truly decadent. So soft, so luxurious and so affordable. The sheen is amazing and the colors exquisite.

Chartity knitting is something I have always wanted to do. At Stitches Mid-West my booth was across from the "Mother Bear Project" booth. The Mother Bear Project is a non-profit group dedicated to providing comfort and hope to children, promarily those infected or affected with HIV/AIDS in emerging nations, by giving the fit of a hand-knit or crocheted bear. I was touched by the detail, care and love that has gone into each and every bear. Have a look at their web site to see how you can use up some of your stash - Mother Bear Project.
Here is my bear so far - I will keep you posted.
