Swirls & Computers - Oh My!

I have to give a shout out to my computer repair man Dr. Dave - this past week my computer had some issues...but thanks to Dr. Dave all is well. When you have an internet based business, having your main computer out of service is not a good thing. All is well and I am dealing with a super speedy situation!

My Dad has a friend in Eastern Canada that makes jewelry - he saw her at a convention recently and they got talking about my business and she just loved our new Swirls. Since she lives on the water my Dad is going to send her one that looks a bit like a fish. I hope you enjoy it Brenda.

Swirls coming in copper of silver plated copper and are hand made in Ontario by a local artist. They make a great gift at only $15.00.

Wired to Knit

I just finished another project. Sweaterkits Wired to Knit is an easy way to try out knitting with wire and beads. Here is a picture of the bracelet. The kit comes with enough wire, beads and clasps to make both a necklace and a bracelet. I have had friends make two bracelets instead. It is a fun, fast project that is great to give as gifts!

K1F3 - Third Project Finished - Snow?

I am so proud of myself - I am sticking to my guns and I finished another project. A crochet baby blanket. It was an easy one that just needed to be attached together and a trim added. Now all I need to for someone I know to have a baby (a boy preferrably as the blanket is blue & white). I don't forsee any babies in the near future so I will wrap it up in tissue and put it into my cedar chest for when I need a baby gift. I once met a woman at a Stitches show who told me she loved to make my children's cardigan sets. She didn't have any children or grandchildren but kept knitting for whenever she needed a new baby gift she had a beautiful hand knit supply to choose from. She is a smart woman!

Yes, as the title of this post says...SNOW. I know being a Canadian, living in Canada I should be used to it, but every year there is this little part of me that hopes that the snow will fall about a week before Christmas and melt about a week after New Years. Last night we had our first snow fall, no accumulation, didn't even cover the grass but never the less ... it was snow. But on the brighter side, today is sunny, crisp and beautiful. One day when we have a really good storm I will post some pictures so all of you who don't get the pleasure of snow can "enjoy" it with me.

Another Project Complete

Another project complete! What do you think? I swear this bear is dancing. The best part of this photo is what you couldn't see. Me, crawling on my kitchen floor to get a good shot of the bear. This was so much fun I want to do another. My family thinks this is a bear from the 60's, it is very "hippie" looking I have been told. When I saw the colors of yarn that is exactly the look I was going for. The pendant and the belt finished it off.

I am already working on my next unfinished project. It feels so good. I am also trying to incorporate this idea into my life. Finishing up projects that just need to be done. This past Sunday I took apart my closet and dresser. Now I need to drop of a few bags of clothes to a local charity "The Yellow Brick House".

My Mother would be so proud! She was for sure the most organized person in the world!

K1F1 - Knit One, Finish One

I have recently decided that I must finish up all projects I have on the go. Well you will be happy to know that I hav begun the process. Two nights ago I finished a beautiful Lace Scarf in Sweaterkits hand painted "SILKY" in the color of "Ocean". "SILKY" is a brand new yarn to us this summer and it is truly decadent. So soft, so luxurious and so affordable. The sheen is amazing and the colors exquisite.

Chartity knitting is something I have always wanted to do. At Stitches Mid-West my booth was across from the "Mother Bear Project" booth. The Mother Bear Project is a non-profit group dedicated to providing comfort and hope to children, promarily those infected or affected with HIV/AIDS in emerging nations, by giving the fit of a hand-knit or crocheted bear. I was touched by the detail, care and love that has gone into each and every bear. Have a look at their web site to see how you can use up some of your stash - Mother Bear Project.
Here is my bear so far - I will keep you posted.

It's been a while

Hello Everyone!

It has been a long time since I have blogged but I am back. I have just got back from Stitches East in Hartford, CT. What a beautiful drive it was. The fall colors were absolutly breathtaking. With Stitches being in a new location this year - Baltimore the past few - we didn't know if we would see that many familiar faces. But we did. Two wonderful ladies from Florida who fly up every year always make me smile with their friendly faces and beautiful southern accents. My dear friend who arrives from New York with her husband in tow, always full of stories of the past year. The new faces we met this year who came to say good bye on Sunday and let us know that they really enjoyed meeting us.

It was very difficult for me to even come to the show this year but you all made it much easier for me. My Mother who had been fighting with Ovarian Cancer for the past three years lost her battle on October 4, 2009. I thank everyone for the cards, hugs and warm words. Ron & I really appreciate it.

The Toronto DKC Frolic was a great success! I can't thank the organizers especially Joan Kass who made the day wonderful for everyone involved.

We had a big celebration earlier this week when our daughter Megan turned 19. For those of you not in Ontario, Canada - the drinking age is 19. She vote last year when she turned 18, but this year she can now legally drink. After spending her first year away at college, she has seen up close that big responsibility comes with drinking. We have no worries, she is a smart young woman who we are very proud of. She also found out this week that she has made the Dean's List at her school. She has a job for the summer and now has a little extra time to go back to her hobby of painting. Our son Dylan has been asked to practice with the senior basketball team at his high school in order for the team to get a head start on playing together for next year.

It has been a week of spring time weather, the tulips are blooming, each day the buds on the trees get larger so one day soon we will see beautiful green leaves! Unless you live in an area of four defined seasons I don't think you can really appreciate how much Canadians love to see spring!

Keep knitting...until next time.....Affectionknitter!
